First 4th and the City

My first 4th of July as a New Yorker has begun in Manhattan and will end in Greensboro, North Carolina. I'm a little disappointed that I'll be missing the largest firework displays in the nation, but I'm flying down this afternoon for a long weekend with Terrence and a wedding on Saturday. It's the second wedding I will have attended this summer with one more to go in August.

I can't believe I'm at the age where so many of my friends are married or are getting married ... and having kids. While I am so happy and excited for them, I can't believe how far off marriage and starting a family are on my own radar. I had always kind of thought in the back of my mind that I'd be married by the time I was in my late twenties. But I just got my first apartment without roommates, furnished with all of my own stuff, and I love turning the key to a place that I know is empty. I just recently achieved all of that, and I'm not ready to let it all go ... just yet.

A recent article I noticed on the cover of "Time Out New York" entitled "Attack of the Single Women" stated: Solo gals have come to rule our city. We have no choice but to listen to their demands.

Damn right. Happy Fourth!

Good for you. Don't settle down until you are ready. It takes a huge sacrifice of privacy, alone time, and peacefulness when you get married and have kids. If you aren't truely ready then it is unbearable. Even when you are ready it is difficult. So don't cave in until you know its the right time. Oh and have a great 4th.

K,

You are married------------to N.Y.C.!!!!! Not all marriages are with humans. Think about it, pretty similar relationship in almost all aspects, with the exception of when you feel like N.Y.C. is "screwing you" on a particlur day. I am thinking it is less pleasant in the "city" marriage one. I know, always the smart-ass........have a good time watching another friend bite the dust!!!!
