Search-Term Saturday: "Some Pig" - Charlotte A. Cavatica

Someone in Arlington, Virginia, googled "twin blondes new york yankees behind home plate" on Wednesday and found my blog because the keywords probably found this post.

Those must have been some blondes.

Funny that no one googled "gorgeous, half-Filipina brunette behind home plate" the day after I attended the Yankee's game with Natasha, Iris and Former SNL Actor.

Search-Term Saturday: I Don't Know

According to Site Meter, someone in British Columbia found my blog last Monday by typing the following into the Google search engine:

"how the fuck do new yorkers afford manhattan?"

The referring URL brought them to my blog, which was unlikely to provide them with any answers because ... I DON'T KNOW.

Search-Term Saturday: Foreshadowing of a Future Profession?

Maybe if my rent goes up 200% again next year.

I know my "Search-Term Saturdays" are pretty sporadic. With a blog that doesn't particularly boast or seek a lot of traffic, I don't always have amusing or interesting referrals. In fact, I have anxiety whenever traffic happens to spike above 50 unique visitors in one day, and I go back through recent posts to make sure I didn't reveal anything that I shouldn't have about a family member or friend. Link to related post

But just when I was telling my NYC Blogger girls at dinner last Wednesday that I have never been linked* to anything [and by "anything," I meant any sites that are more or less "official" like gawker.com ... ahem], I have been linked by a porn site called a-lok.net as "A Collage of Girls Stripping at hostel Campus." Someone in Calcutta visited my blog via that link.**

*Misguided Misadventures in NYC's "
Salt in the Wound" or "Irish Enough" - by Gawker's Blogorrhea

**I'm the second "A Collage of Girls Stripping at hostel Campus" link, but I wouldn't click on it at a-lok. Maybe it's phishing site and it definitely doesn't take you to a collage of girls stripping at a hostel campus. Not yet anyway. Stop back by after/if I renew my lease in November.

Search-Term Saturday: Manhattan Real Estate Depression

Someone in Schenectady, New York, googled "Manhattan Real Estate Depression" yesterday and found my blog. I have a chronic case of it.

Other search results provided:
"The Manhattan Real Estate Slump that Wasn't" - The New York Times
"Will the Real Hangover Please Stand Up?" - Urbandigs.com
"What the Credit Crunch Means for NYC Real Estate" - Curbed.com

Ok ... now I am going back to bed. I have to go play tourist in a few hours with Cassie (Metro-North-ing it up from New Haven) and her brother (arriving on an early flight from North Carolina) and Iris (living five blocks up and five avenues over) and her mother (also visiting from good ol' North Cacalacky).

Search-Term Saturday: Living in North Carolina vs New York City

Someone in Raleigh googled "living in north carolina vs new york city" on Wednesday and found my blog.

The search results also yielded:
"I'm Moving Out of New York City" - Penelope's Trunk

I've quoted her before and I'll quote her again:
"I’m always surprised when people leave New York. I mean, where do they go?"
- Samantha, "Sex & the City"

Search-term Saturday: The Johns

A lot of searches this week for "John Mayer's New York Apartment," "John Legend's apartment in New York City" and "John Legend's East Village Apartment." Wonder what those people plan to do when they find them. In the meantime, they found me since I blogged recently about both John Mayer and John Legend being in Bryant Park and I blog about my apartment a lot.

Appears to be some interest on the web regarding where these two Johns live in the city. Kind of creepy. After Shemar Moore was caught naked on a gay beach, there were also a lot of hits generated by a picture I had taken with him in Miami . Searches for "Shemar Moore naked pics" or variations thereof led curious eyes to BNY; unfortunately, he was partially clothed in my photo with him (but his shirt is OFF).

New tag: Search-Term Saturdays

Thanks to the technology of sitemeter.com, I can see the terms used in search engines that lead people to my blog, whether their search leads them to me intentionally or unintentionally. And sometimes their search terms lead me to other cool blogs.

Upon closer inspection of the search results for "new yorker blog" by someone in New York on July 24, I found Mimi in New York, which I loved immediately for its description alone:

"40 countries, 12 boats, 37 flights, 46 assholes and over a year later... Writing for The Village Voice, avoiding Bill O'Reilly and campaigning for immigrants whilst musing on anal sex and pissing off the religious right."

But my favorite this week was this googled phrase: "act like a native new yorker why do new yorkers say do that," which not only provoked the idea for Search-Term Saturdays (where I will post the funniest search term that leads some cyber-wondering soul to my blog each week), but also led me to Ask a New Yorker:
