hey is harlem safe? i apologize if this is an ignorant question but im moving to NYC and going to Columbia and was wondering if it was a safe area (what about coming home late after partying, etc.) you seem like you're alot like me personality wise so i thought you'd be a good person to ask ;)

You have to be smart in any neighborhood in New York City. Afterall, you can be stabbed or shot anywhere. So I definitely wouldn't advise living your New York life in fear of either.

Some may advise against riding the train home to Harlem late at night (e.g. between midnight and 5am), but I do it frequently and have never felt uncomfortable. But it depends on your own comfort zone.
